Temp Nhp LogiBackground

Dacorum Borough Council (DBC) formally designated the plan area on 29th August 2023.

Berkhamsted Neighbourhood Plan is coordinated by the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, which includes councillors, council officers, local stakeholders and residents. The Group has been gathering evidence and engaging with the local community to help guide the draft policies that will form the neighbourhood plan.

What is a Neighbourhood Plan?

Neighbourhood planning gives communities direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood and shape the development and growth of their local area.

An adopted Neighbourhood Plan has legal weight in planning decisions by the Local Planning Authority (Dacorum Borough Council for Berkhamsted). The key stakeholder is the community. It is a plan by the community, for the community.

It’s a powerful tool, putting the community at the heart of local planning, where the ambition of the neighbourhood is aligned with the strategic needs and priorities of the wider local area.

If you would like to get involved in the process, please get in touch with us at [email protected]

Public Consultations

Public consultations include online and paper questionnaires, alongside in-person events.

So far, we have delivered the Winter 2023 first questionnaire to every household in Berkhamsted.

Our next big event is an in-person public consultation over several days in the Civic Centre foyer starting on Wednesday the 16th of October. Please come along and give us your views on the work so far and any ideas you have.
