Thermal Imaging Camera

Berkhamsted Town Council’s Thermal Imaging Service has been a great success. In two years, more than 135 Berkhamsted residents have received a factual record of thermal images of their homes to show where there is heat loss.

In the colder months (between November and March), volunteers used the Testo 883 Thermal Imaging camera to take thermal images of the outside of a property.

The Testo 883 camera is a special camera-like device that can take a thermal image of a building to help get a better understanding of where any heat is being lost.

The records highlighted that low-cost measures such as shutting curtains and stopping drafts can really make a difference with reducing heat loss.

19 volunteers undertook the visits where they received comprehensive training on how to use the thermal imaging camera and write the records.

Thank you to Dacorum Borough Council awarded a Green Community Grant towards the cost of the ‘Community Thermal Imaging Camera Project’.
